Membership Information

Membership Categories that you may choose from:

For further information, contact [email protected]

Member:  A full member, on joining a chorus and registering with SAI, is required to pay chorus fees, regional levies and SAI fees. This entitles her to all events and publications.

Youth: A youth member is aged 25 years or less, and pays half of the international and regional levies, and chorus rates as set down by Chapter By Laws. (Note this does not apply to Convention - there is no ‘youth rate’ when a member signs up to compete. The Regional convention levy (and registration) is 100% and the administration and education levies are 50%).

Chapter at Large (CAL): CAL members can be a member of, and compete with, a quartet in Region 35 (New Zealand), to perform or compete with a chorus in this Region they must become a secondary member of that chorus: CAL members can join choruses in regions outside New Zealand to compete regionally or internationally. CAL members pay regional and international fees.  For further information contact [email protected]

Member at Large (MAL):  A MAL member does not pay regional levies, and she is not entitled to attend member only events as a member, unless she upgrades her membership to CAL. She may register as a non-member at a non-member price to any regional event.  This membership suits non-members, former or current members who do not want to affiliate to a region. They will pay SAI dues; may hold positions at international level, and belong to a registered quartet. They may not compete or perform with a chartered chorus.

Associate Member:  Associate members must be former or current chapter members. They retain all membership privileges except cannot perform or compete in a Sweet Adelines chorus.  They can be a member of and compete with a quartet. They pay SAI and Regional levies, and chorus dues as set down by Chapter By Laws.

Dual Member (Primary): Members belonging to one chorus, may join one or more choruses as dual members.  They will pay only one set of regional levies through their primary chorus, and whatever dues their dual choruses require. This membership suits members wanting to experience singing with a larger chorus, or one competing internationally.

Dual Member (Secondary): This is for a member from another region who wishes to join a NZ chorus. They pay the Region 35 administrative levy.  If they wish to attend educational events/convention, they will also need to pay the appropriate levies.

Documents for Membership matters:

Most membership administrative tasks can now be done online. Once you have your SAI number from your chorus management team, ask them to help you explore both the SANZ and SAI websites, once your details have been provided to the RMT.

When searching for a document on this website a good place to start is 'Documents'  which will lead you to 'General Forms'. If you can't find a specific document you are looking for try entering a key word in the search bar - this is often the quickest way!

What Management Teams need to do when a new member joins or a member leaves:

  • Online, obtain a Sweet Adelines International (SAI) membership number for your new person and pay dues
  • Email [email protected] the following details:  members name, address, email address, contact phone number preferably mobile phone, SAI number (as above), chorus, chorus positions. Also put your email address in the body of the email so we can see who to reply to. Once this is done, their names will be entered on the Sweet Adelines New Zealand website. Membership will advise the Sweet Adelines New Zealand Finance person.
  • When a member leaves a chorus you need to email [email protected], please include your email address in the body of the text so an acknowledgement can be sent to you. Membership will advise Sweet Adelines New Zealand Finance. Sweet Adelines International must also be informed of a members resignation on [email protected], thank you.
